LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Hazelwood community reached out to each other on Saturday to get to know their neighbors with the help of BOB.
Saturday was Big BOB Day, which stands for Building Our Blocks.
Councilwoman Jennifer Chappell, D-15, invited residents to gather at Hazelwood Elementary School for the neighborhood-focused initiative.
The event offered public resources, community volunteer opportunities, a pet vaccine clinic, medication take-back, gun safety resources and health checks.
It was about showing others what their community has to offer and how to take advantage of it.
"We're here in the Hazelwood neighborhood, and it is a long-established neighborhood, but there is not a neighborhood association. Neighbors aren't really connected, and so that is one of the goals of this BOB — to get neighbors more connected," Chappell said.
Big BOB Day happens twice a year in Louisville, once every six months in different neighborhoods.
