LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A long-standing legacy of service will be celebrated April 25 as the Tau Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. hosts a community 5K and 1-mile walk at 9:30 a.m. at 2400 S. Brook St.

The event marks the chapter’s 101st anniversary and will raise money to provide clear backpacks for students at W.E.B. DuBois Academy.

Registration is $20 for the 5K run and $10 for the 1-mile walk, and proceeds will go directly toward supporting local students.

Founded in 1925 at Simmons College, the Tau Chapter is the first Black collegiate fraternity in Kentucky and continues its mission of brotherhood, scholarship and service through community-focused efforts.

"Community members of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to participate," said a chapter spokesperson. "This event allows us to celebrate our history while supporting students in our city."
