LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- MSD is inviting the public to a series of meetings related to sewer odors in Louisville.
The first "clAIRity" meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday, April 23, from 6-7 p.m. at the MSD Central Maintenance Facility on Commerce Center Place.
The meeting will address contributing factors to the odors and the steps MSD is taking to manage them around the city.
"Odor is a natural and inevitable result of the millions of gallons of wastewater flushed and sent down the drain across this community every day, and that's why managing sewer odor is an ongoing priority for MSD," MSD Executive Director Tony Parrott said in a news release Thursday.
MSD said some outside factors that will make sewer odors worse include periods of dry weather, and "overall water conservation trends that result in less water flowing through underground pipes to flush the system."
Community members will also be able to voice their concerns and ask questions. It'll be the first of five public meetings that will be held throughout the year.
The next meetings are listed below:
- Wednesday, June 26, 6-7 p.m. at the Western Library, 604 South 10th Street
- Tuesday, Aug. 27, 6-7 p.m. at the Shawnee Library, 3912 West Broadway
- Tuesday, Oct. 15, 6-7 p.m. at the MSD Central Maintenance Facility, 3050 Commerce Center Place
- Thursday, Oct. 24, 1-2 p.m. at the Norton Healthcare Goodwill Opportunity Center, 2820 West Broadway
