LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WAVE) — Several blocks of downtown Louisville were closed Saturday for a pickleball street festival.

The Downtown Pickleball Street Fest took over East Main Street between South Jackson and South Hancock streets.

The event was hosted by the Louisville Downtown Partnership and Goodbounce Pickleball Yard.

The festival included tournament play, open play, celebrity exhibition matches and a wellness expo.

It marks the third year for the festival, which celebrates the sport and the "vibrant culture downtown Louisville has to offer."

The festival transformed a section of East Main Street into an outdoor pickleball venue. In addition to pickleball, there were yard games and a DJ on hand, as well as a selection of food trucks, a pop-up bar with local beer and an Angel’s Envy bar offering the brand’s signature Peach Smash cocktail.

"I liken it to back in the day, the 3-on-3 basketball tournament like Gus Macker and whatnot," Goodbounce founder John Flodder said. "It is a different experience, but it’s a great introduction for people."
