Beshear said he has a "strong preference" that the state hold off on any such legislation until Kentucky overcomes the COVID-19 pandemic.Â
In a news release, the Democratic governor called legislators' vote to override his vetos an attempt "to surrender to COVID-19 and accept the casualties."
Kentucky lawmakers wrapped up redistricting work in a rare Saturday session, passing bills to redraw congressional and legislative maps that now will be scrutinized by Gov. Andy Beshear.
