TOUR DE LOU (4).jpeg

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hundreds of riders took to the streets of downtown Louisville Saturday for an annual Derby tradition.

The Kentucky Derby Festival's PNC Tour de Lou kicked off at the Belvedere and cyclists rode through downtown and Old Louisville.

The event is in its 12th year and had distance options for all experience levels: 20, 35, or 62 miles.

Some were on traditional bikes while others chose a more laidback approach. It was somewhat of a different route this year because of flooding clean up.

"Change is one of the things we are kind of used to," KDF member Andy Murphy said. "We have moved this event around which is a good thing - different parts of the city and everything. So, it has effected us but not really terribly."

The event usually goes into southern Indiana but this year, because of the flooding, the 60-mile course went south through Jefferson Memorial Forrest.
