Louisville Metro Government said it has entered into an agreement to purchase the former AT&T building at 601 West Chestnut St. downtown. (WDRB photo)

The city said the building would be used as a municipal office for some departments and agencies, including the Louisville Metro Police Department.
The city hopes to close the deal next month.
Metro Council approved an ordinance Thursday night to fast-track renovations for the new Louisville Metro Police headquarters.
