Instead of relying on busses, many families chose to wait in long car rider lanes to pick up their children from school.
Kentucky's largest school district said to WDRB News on Tuesday that about a dozen of its newer buses have air conditioning.
Jefferson County Public Schools made no major changes to its bus routes during Fall Break, saying the efficiency had improved since a disastrous opening day caused the district to cancel class for the ensuing six days.
