Officer Nick Wilt, 26, just graduated from the police academy on March 31, interim Chief Jackie Gwinn-Villaroel said at a press conference.
The Louisville Metro Police Foundation has set up a fund for Officer Nickolas Wilt.
Jim Tutt, 64, was among five people who lost their lives in Monday's mass shooting at a downtown Louisville bank.
