LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was killed and two people were seriously injured in a crash near Okolona Friday night.
Louisville Metro Police officers were called to a multi-car crash in the 10300 block of Preston Highway, at Maple Spring Drive, just after 8 p.m., department spokesperson Aaron Ellis said in a statement. That's not far from Commerce Crossings Drive and Cooper Chapel Road, off Interstate 265.
Officers responding to the scene shut down Preston Highway in both directions. Investigators believe a man on a motorcycle was headed north on Preston Highway when he was hit by a vehicle that pulled into the northbound lanes from Maple Spring Drive, Ellis said.
Police said a third vehicle, also headed north on Preston, collided with the crashed motorcycle and vehicle from the initial incident.
The motorcyclist was ejected from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
Two adults from the vehicles were taken to University of Louisville Hospital with serious injuries that don't appear to be life-threatening, Ellis said.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
Preston Highway remains blocked in both directions at Maple Spring Drive as crews work to investigate and clear the scene. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area.
