LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Forbes has released its 400 Richest People in American list, and some people from Kentucky and Indiana made the list.

For Kentucky, only one person made the cut. 

Coming in at No. 118 is Tamara Hughes Gustavson, the largest shareholder of Public Storage, the self-storage giant. Her father, B. Wayne Hughes, who died in 2021, cofounded the company in 1972. Her net worth, according to Forbes, is $9.1 billion. She and her family also own Spendthrift Farm in Lexington, home to 10 Derby winners.

For Indiana, three people made the list.

One Hoosier named on the Forbes 400 Richest Americans list is a name many are familiar with, James Irsay. Irsay is the CEO of the Indianapolis Colts, the team he inherited from his father, Robert, when he died in 1997. Listed as No. 278, Irsay has a net worth of $4.8 billion. 

The next Indiana name is Carl Cook, ranked No. 89 with a net worth of $10.7 billion. Cook is the CEO of the medical device manufacturer, Cook Group. He took over his parents' company when his dad, Bill, died in 2011. Cook is also the president of a life sciences company, Cook MyoSite, which is developing a cell therapy to treat urinary incontinence.

Another Hoosier on the list is Herb Simon, Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Simon Property Group, one of the world's largest real estate investment trusts. Simon also owns an 80% stake in the Indiana Pacers.
