LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Buying two Kentucky Lottery tickets at a time finally paid off for one Owen County man.

Michael Perry recently purchased two $10 Wild Cash 100X scratch-off tickets from the Verona Hop Shop. He told lottery officials he left work early to drive to Louisville to pick up his cousin and stopped off in Verona for lottery tickets.

The first ticket he scratched wasn't a winner, but the second one was! Perry scratched off a win on every spot on the ticket to win the game's top prize of $250,000.

"Anytime I buy them I always buy two at a time," Perry said. "The first thing that crossed my mind was paying off my house. It's an amazing feeling to know that I can do that now."

Perry's wife, Felicia, was just as excited as he was when she heard the news.

"I cried a little bit when I saw the ticket," Felicia said. "This is literally going to change everything for us."

The couple went straight to lottery headquarters in Louisville and received a check for $180,000 after taxes.

"We're definitely going to celebrate, and I'm sure everyone will be happy for us," the couple said.

Perry is the first top prize winner to claim a ticket on The Wild Cash 100X game. The game went on sale to players June 26.

Verona Hop Shop will receive $2,500 for selling the winning ticket.
