17-year-old from Nelson County dies in crash on Bluegrass Parkway, police say

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 17-year-old teenager from Nelson County died in a two-vehicle crash on Friday evening, according to Kentucky State Police.

KSP said the crash happened near 13 mile-marker on Bluegrass Parkway in Nelson County around 5:45 p.m. Police said the teenager was driving a 2016 Ford Fusion westbound when he crossed the median for an unknown reason. The Ford Fusion crashed into a 2016 Cadillac Escalade that was traveling eastbound.

The teenager, from Cox Creek, died at the scene.

According to police, the driver and two passengers in the Cadillac Escalade were flown to University of Louisville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Bluegrass Parkway was closed for several hours as police investigated the crash.
