LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- As cities throughout the Louisville-area are lit up for the holidays, Sunday night it was time for the Ohio River.
The third annual Christmas Boat Parade took off from the Juniper Beach dock near the East End Bridge. The boats paraded down the rive donning holiday lights, decorations and music as many had themes.
They finished their cruise at River House and people gathered at nearby Captain's Quarters for a viewing and after parade party.
Families lined the shore to watch the parade and many had their cameras to capture all the lights.
"It's coming to the end of the season so this is something that really keeps a little bit of the excitement in it for the boaters as a last event before having to put everything up for the winter and wait for warm weather in the spring," spectator Joe Frith said.
Several dozen boats took part in the parade.
