LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Saturday, March 8, is the third annual Tyler Gerth Art Gala and Auction.

Gerth, 27, was a photographer documenting Breonna Taylor protests in Downtown Louisville when he was shot and killed in 2020.

Now, five years later, his family continues to run Building Equal Bridges The Tyler Gerth Foundation in his honor.

This year's Tyler Gerth Art Auction and Gala is Saturday, March 8, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the 21C Museum and Hotel.

Guests can expect a silent and live auction, an artist doing a live painting, live music, plus food and drinks.

WDRB's own Monica Harkins will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the event.

All proceeds go to the foundation, which helps support Louisville's youth with opportunities in photography, thanks to a partnership with Louisville Urban League. There's also a memorial scholarship at Trinity High school, Gerth's alma mater.

Tickets are still available.

Last year, the family opted for an online auction instead of an in-person gala and auction as the trial for Gerth's shooter unfolded.

Steven Lopez pleaded guilty to shooting and killing Gerth at Jefferson Square Park in downtown Louisville on June 27, 2020. Lopez reached a plea deal on manslaughter, and 21 counts of wanton endangerment. The prison plea calls for 30 years in prison, with 18 of those years for Gerth's death.
