LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Five people are displaced after a house fire in the Shawnee neighborhood on Saturday morning, according to Louisville Fire Department.
Firefighters were dispatched to a food on the stove fire in the 3500 block of West Main Street around 9 a.m. Crews arrived on scene two minutes later to a 1-story house fire.
Louisville Fire Capt. Donovan Sims said firefighters set up exposure lines to protect surrounding homes and worked to extinguish the fire.
Everyone inside the home made it out safely and no one was injured from the fire. Sims said it took 25 firefighters around 12 minutes to get control of the fire.
People at the house told firefighters they were cooking and grease caught fire. The house has heavy fire damage while another home had damage to its siding.
Three adults, two children and one cat are displaced due to the house fire.
