LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's diversity was celebrated Saturday for refugees who now call the Derby City home.
One of those is the Iraqi community. The Louisville Public Library's annual Library Series along with Kentucky Refugee Series hosted an event Saturday that showcases Iraq's history, food and culture.
Several professors spoke about the country's past, its future and current events.
"That is why we call it celebrating our neighborhood," said Tony Dingman, Louisville Free Public Library Program Director. "It is the people that are around you. Show off the people who live here who have chosen to live here for various reasons."
Two more events are free and available to the public.
The next will focus on the music of Iraq on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the South Central Regional Library.
And the Cuisine of Iraq on Sept. 21, at the Northeast Regional Library.
