LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Donated backpacks full of school supplies will help thousands of local children start the school year off on the right foot.
A line wrapped around Shawnee High School Thursday.
Each child received a backpack full of pencils, notebook paper, folders and other items. All items were donated through the Backpack Angel program.
Parents had to register to get the free supplies.
"It helps us save money for later on in the year when we got to get them more clothes or whatever may come up, because there's always something," said R.C. Cass, a grandparent.
The Louisville Free Public Library's "55,000 Degrees" program and other educational services took the opportunity to pass out information to parents.
