LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — It's an exciting new chapter in the future of Blackacre Nature Preserve.
Blackacre Conservancy is expanding with the purchase of 32-and-a-half acres of property for the existing 360-acre campus in Louisville.
The expansion will preserve important natural habitat and increase the recreational offerings.
Future site planning includes handicapped-accessible trails, a garden full of Kentucky native plants and a recreational dog trail.
"I tell everyone that Blackacre Conservancy has something for everyone, so if you're interested in history, hiking trails, farm animals, nature, community garden, we have it all out here," said Dennis Craig, Blackacre executive director. "We have something for everyone to come out and enjoy."
The acquisition will also allow a fishing program to be added to the nature preserve.
