Missing IU student Lauren Spierer

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Wednesday marks 15 years since IU student Lauren Spierer disappeared.

She left for a night out with her friends and was last seen alive around 4:30 a.m. June 3, 2011. Police said she was headed home but never made it to her apartment at the intersection of West 9th Street and North College Avenue.

In the days after her disappearance, Bloomington police released a surveillance photo of Spierer from her apartment complex.

A book about Spierer came out in 2024, revealing new evidence in the case.

In a social media post, Spierer's family said 15 years is "inconceivable."

"Nothing more to say other than that we have not forgotten," the family said in the post. "We will never stop searching for answers as long as we live and breathe."

The family has a private investigator working on the case.

Anyone with information on Spierer can contact the Bloomington Police Department at 812-339-4477.
