LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Fourteen years ago on June 3, Indiana University student Lauren Spierer disappeared and has never been found.
She was last seen on June 3, 2011, after spending a night out with friends in Bloomington.
Bloomington Police said Spierer was last seen around 4 a.m. when she was headed home, but she never made it to her apartment at the intersection of West Ninth Street and North College Avenue.
She was reported missing later that day.
In the days after her disappearance, Bloomington Police released a photo of Spierer from cameras at her apartment complex.
On Tuesday, Spierer's mother, Charlene, posted about her daughter's disappearance on Facebook, saying the family continues to wait for closure.
"I hope with all my heart the day will come when the not knowing comes to an end and we can give Lauren the peace she deserves," she wrote, closing the post with: "To our dear Lauren, in our hearts always."
A book about Spierer's disappearance was published in 2024 that revealed new evidence in the case.
The Bloomington Police Department released this statement,
