LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Everyone is buzzing about Costco these days, from their $5 wines to their $20 pants that Lululemon claims are copying their trademarks.
If you're thinking about joining a warehouse club, is Costco the place or is Sam's Club still your best value?
In these inflationary times, shoppers are saying their Sam's and Costco memberships have been a smart investment.
The memberships are getting more expensive in 2025. Costco starts at $65 a year for a basic membership, while Sam's Club last raised their annual fee to $50 back in 2022.
So with the costs higher than ever, which is your better bet? Sam's has more name brand items and they tend to be priced cheaper. Costco has more higher end items and "favors quality over quantity."
The biggest downside of both chains is most items are sold in bulk. That's great if you are feeding a family of six, not so great if it is just you and your pet dog.
Both stores do offer some smaller items, but retail experts say for them to keep prices so low they need to sell in bulk.
