LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A former office manager for Lexington Blue Roofing is speaking out, claiming the company left dozens of customers in the Louisville area waiting for roofing work that was never completed and misled them along the way.
The first time WDRB visited the company's Louisville office, no one answered. The second time, the front door went unanswered once again—and the office appeared to have been cleaned out.
But one thing was visible when the wind blew open a utility door where trash bins are stored—the company’s sign, tucked beside a garbage can.
Michelle Davidson used to walk past that sign every day. She joined Lexington Blue Roofing in May of last year as the Louisville office manager.

“I’m here today because I feel awful for the public and these homeowners that call distressed, and they’re taken advantage of,” Davidson told WDRB.
She said she was fired three weeks ago, and had been growing increasingly concerned about the working conditions. It wasn't because of her coworkers, but because of angry customers.
“Nearly every day,” she said. “It became a safety concern for me. I was getting threatened. I had people calling me, calling me every name under the book. Which was unfortunate because there’s nothing I could do for them. I was essentially a glorified secretary.”
Davidson said she was given a script to use when upset homeowners called looking for answers, a list of excuses she now claims were not true.
“I was told to tell them our contractors were sick, the weather’s been bad ... just to throw them off and keep them on the waitlist,” she said.
WDRB first reported on Lexington Blue Roofing in March, after a homeowner said she signed a contract and handed over an insurance check for roof repairs that were never done. Months later, the work still hasn't started.
When WDRB first visited the Louisville office, no one answered the door. When we called the office phone, Davidson picked up — but quickly hung up.
“I was the one that terminated (the call) because I was told to not speak to you,” she said.
Davidson claims she had access to the company’s QuickBooks accounts until financial information began to be restricted from her and others within the company. She said that’s when she noticed red flags.
“They keep their finances very private,” she said. “What I can tell you is, our Wi-Fi is not paid. Our water bill has been shut off multiple times. The cars have been repossessed.”

Despite talk to open new locations, she said the company has struggled to fund its Louisville and Cincinnati offices. She estimates more than 80 customers are still waiting on roofing work in Louisville alone.
“To my knowledge, in the past six months at Lexington Blue, we have put in about two roofs ... and one of them is still uncompleted,” she said.
The Better Business Bureau in Lexington has received dozens of complaints about the company. Its BBB accreditation has been suspended and is currently under review.
Davidson also shared text messages, allegedly from a company manager, instructing employees to create fake profiles on sites like Nextdoor and Reddit to leave positive reviews.
WDRB has made multiple attempts to contact Lexington Blue Roofing. As of this report, our calls have not been returned.
