LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Bubba's 33 is ready to open its newest location in Fern Creek, but there's some mixed reaction from neighbors.

The restaurant is scheduled to open Monday. While many who live near the location in Southpointe Commons off Bardstown Road are excited for the restaurant, others who drive down that stretch of road every day are concerned about the impact it could have on traffic.

"I've lived in this area for a long time, and I know how traffic can get where one person slows down and then it's just a cascade effect," said Connor McFarland, who takes Bardstown Road to work every day.

The area has already been growing rapidly over the last two years. Now, with the addition of the new Bubba's 33, it's looking to grow more — bringing more traffic.

"It could even effect traffic going home, and then if I'm trying to pull in these other businesses, who knows how that's going to affect my daily commute," McFarland said.

Stephanie Keenanwurm, Bubba's 33 managing partner, also lives 10 minutes down the road from the restaurant. As someone who drives Bardstown Road every day, she understands the frustration.

"You're going to maybe be in a little traffic, but once you get through it and you get into Bubba's 33's front doors and you get our food, it's going to be totally worth it," Keenanwurm said.

While commuters like McFarland are worried about the traffic, they're also interested in what the new restaurant could bring.

"I think it's phenomenal for the smaller communities to have more access to these businesses, and if that cost is a little heavier traffic, it's a price that I'm probably willing to pay," he said.

Bubba's 33 opens to the public Monday, April 28.
