The Trail Hotel opens in Bardstown 5-28-25

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new hotel in Bardstown is highlighting the area's roots in bourbon.

The Trail Hotel is now open on New Haven Road in a historic building that was once a "cultural hub" for the city from the 1970s to the 90s but closed in the early 2000s.

According to the Bardstown Nelson County Chamber of Commerce, the new hotel is the first and only bourbon-centric hotel in the area. It's also locally-owned.

It boasts some unique features, such as a Bourbon Butler to coordinate VIP tours and a shuttle service to get to and from local distilleries. It has 95 "boutique style" rooms, with eight suites that are bourbon-themed.

There are four different bar experiences, including a pool and swim club cabana bar and a secret speakeasy. It also features a saltwater pool, the "largest outdoor hot tub in the area," a golf simulator, a restaurant and a rejuvenation room with a sauna, a cryotherapy chamber, an oxygen bar and IV hydration services with a nurse on staff.

A grand opening was held for the hotel Wednesday.
