LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- ReSurfaced is back to transform the city's urban scene with live entertainment, food vendors, bourbon and visual arts -- hosted by City Collaborative.
It's all a part of a new three-day community event.
"It's purpose is to take a negative or underutilized urban space and really re-invent it," said Rebecca Matheny, a board member of City Collaborative.
The ReSurfaced events popped up first at Museum Row on Main Street, but organizers felt the time was right to move west of Ninth Street. Under the I-64 overpass at 10th and the Ohio River, the event re-emerges this weekend in the Hillerich & Bradsby parking lot.
The area is a part of the Business Improvement District, which recently expanded to include a few blocks west of Ninth Street.
"There's a lot of vibrant businesses here and I think people that haven't been here will be surprised about how beautiful the building stock is and what a great feel this neighborhood has,” Matheny explained.
Local businesses partnered with ReSurfaced to take part in this urban initiative, which is also luring local bikers to this part of town.
"We're hosting a ride here as part of ReSurfaced that's going to be us exploring the west waterfront area and also the underutilized space that is in West Louisville," said Chris Glassner, President of Bicyclists for Louisville.
It's a revolution that’s taking advantage of all the city has to offer with hidden treasures of Louisville ReSurfaced and on display.
