LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A local pizza chain is fundraising for a California humane society after the deadly wildfires in Los Angeles.

Parlour Pizza is partnering with Pasadena Humane Society to host a fundraiser Jan. 14. The pizza restaurant will donate 25% of the proceeds to support the nonprofit's emergency relief efforts.

A growing force of firefighters moved into the Los Angeles area Monday as more powerful winds were expected to trigger new wildfires that could set back the recent progress made in containing blazes that have destroyed thousands of homes and killed at least 24 people.

Crews and equipment arrived from across the U.S., and from Canada and Mexico — including water trucks and planes that drop firefighting chemicals — as the National Weather Service warned that the coming days could become "particularly dangerous."

Thousands of pets have been displaced, injured and in need of care. The Pasadena Humane Society is working to provide relief to the pets.

"We may be far from California, but as a company, we feel a deep responsibility to help those in need, especially the innocent animals caught in the path of these devastating fires," Don Robinson of PARLOUR Pizza + Pints said in a news release. "Our pet-friendly patios are a key part of our community, and we are heartbroken for the pets and their owners who are struggling right now. We hope this fundraiser can help provide much needed support for the Pasadena Humane Society and their team of dedicated veterinarians and staff."

The fundraiser is for dine-in only. It goes from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday at seven Kentucky and Indiana locations.
