LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A local restaurant incubator is getting a financial boost to upgrade its space.
The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels awarded Chef Space with a $5,675 Good Works Grant.
The west Louisville culinary incubator offers rentable, commercial kitchen space and training opportunities for entrepreneurs.
The grant money will be used to make building upgrades, including conference room upgrades.
"Entrepreneurs starting in the food industry need support and access to equipment and gathering space to be successful," Chef Space President Tom Murro said in a news release on Wednesday. "We are grateful to the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels for this award and their support of culinary entrepreneurs in Louisville.
Since 2015, Chef Space has created over 400 jobs, helped launch over 200 food-related ventures and graduated 25 businesses to brick-and-mortar locations in Louisville.
The HOKC said it awards the grants each year to nonprofits to help further their efforts in their communities.
