LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jeffersontown celebrated one of the most popular dog breeds in America.

A National Golden Retriever Day Bash was held Sunday at Club K9 on Taylorsville Road. All golden retrievers got in for free.

Pets and their owners could enjoy unique booths and vendors, raffles, a talent contest and more. Grrand Rescue was also on site with adoptable dogs.

"Just a lot of stories out there and just the need to rescue and rehome these dogs is greater than ever right now," said Sarah Dunn, event coordinator for Grrand. "Goldens just have a great personality. They're a really good family dog and I think that's why they are becoming more and more popular every year."

Club K9 is an off leash dog park and full service bar with indoor and outdoor areas for humans and pets alike. It also offers a free dog wash station and food trucks.
