LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Three people were arrested in connection to a double shooting Saturday night in Shively that left one man dead.
Shively Police Sgt. Jordan Brown said the shooting happened in the 4100 block of Cheviot Drive, near Crums Lane and Interstate 264. When police arrived on scene about 7:45 p.m., officers found two people who had been shot.
Police said a female was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police, and later died.
Brown said police believe the shooting was targeted and not random.
On Tuesday, Brown said Bri'kell Buckner, 18, and two juveniles were arrested. According to the arrest citation, police executed a search warrant Monday at a house on National Turnpike just south of Interstate 265. The three suspects were found there, and other people there at the time said the three were staying in the basement.
Police said, during a search of the basement, they found three handguns disassembled and concealed within a wall. Surveillance previously conducted at the property showed the three suspects frequenting a detached barn behind the house, police said, where they went on to find heroin and a digital scale. A stolen car was also found on the property, police said.
All three suspects are charged with murder, first-degree assault, trafficking a controlled substance (heroin), tampering with physical evidence and receiving stolen property. Buckner is also charged with unlawful transaction with a minor.
