LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two men were arrested Monday in Louisville and charged with the murder of a 41-year-old man in Bullitt County.
Police responded to a shooting in the 1400 block of West Hebron Lane in Shepherdsville, near the Kentucky Turnpike, around 11:15 a.m. Officers responding to a home at that location found the victim — now identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 41-year-old Yuri Valcarcel-Herrera — with "multiple gunshot wounds," according to a news release from the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office.
He was taken to UofL Health Hospital in Louisville, where he was pronounced dead at 12:08 p.m.
On Monday, officers with the Louisville Metro Police Fugitive Unit arrested Juanell Mucker, 20, and Benjamin Williams, 24, both of Louisville. According to the arrest citation, both men went to Valcarcel-Herrera's house around 11:15 a.m. Sunday. Shortly after they arrived, shots were fired at Valcarcel-Herrera, his home, his brother and his sister-in-law.
Valcarcel-Herrera was unarmed, but his brother fired back in defense. No one else was hit besides Valcarcel-Herrera, who died at the hospital after being shot in the chest, police said.
In Bullitt County, Mucker and Williams are both charged with murder, attempted murder and first-degree wanton endangerment. When the officers arrived to arrest them Monday in Louisville, they tried to run, so both also face charges in Jefferson County of tampering with evidence, fleeing or evading police and failure to appear.
They're both being held in Louisville's jail on a $1 million bond.
