LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man died at the hospital after he was shot Sunday morning in Bullitt County, according to police.

Police responded to a shooting in the 1400 block of West Hebron Lane in Shepherdsville, near the Kentucky Turnpike, around 11:15 a.m. Officers responding to a home at that location found the victim — now identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 41-year-old Yuri Valcarcel-Herrera — with "multiple gunshot wounds," according to a news release from the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office.

He was taken to UofL Health Hospital in Louisville, where he was pronounced dead at 12:08 p.m.

Frank Tillich, who has lived in the neighborhood for 30 years, encountered the crime scene as he returned from church. He said the shooting was out of the ordinary for the neighborhood.

"It's very unique for this area, especially on our street here, this is the first I've seen it," Tillich said. "I didn't expect to see this, coming home from church."

The sheriff's office said in a written statement that they "believe this to be an isolated incident with no threat to the public."
