MADISON, Ind. (WDRB) -- Two men were shot and killed in what police were told was an attempted home invasion Thursday morning near Madison, Indiana.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said dispatch received a 911 call from someone in the house saying he'd shot two people who broke into his house. Deputies responded around 3:53 a.m. Thursday to a house on North Bulldog Drive, northwest of Madison near Smyrna, Indiana.Â
Once on scene, deputies found Dalton Skirvin, 27, and Kaleb Skirvin, 29, dead in the house. Both men were Madison residents.
Charles Pruitt, who lives across the street from where the shooting happened on North Bulldog Drive, said he woke up Thursday morning to see his neighbor's home surrounded by police.
"He's a friend of mine,' Pruitt said Thursday. "He's a good guy. He comes over occasionally and watches the Colts football."
Jefferson County Sheriff Benjamin Flint said the investigation is ongoing, but there is no immediate danger to the public.
