LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man was charged with murder in connection to a shooting at a Jeffersontown home in July.
Mikal T. Ballard, 27, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with murder, assault and burglary.
According to court documents, Ballard unlawfully entered a home in the 9900 block of Old Six Mile Lane and shot two people lying in a bed. Joseph A. Lewis died of multiple gunshot wounds.
A female victim was taken to the hospital with "serious" physical injuries to her face, shoulder and hand, all which required surgical repair. Police utilized surveillance footage to identify Ballard after the shooting.
Ballard pleaded not guilty on Wednesday. He is being held in Louisville Metro Corrections on a $500,000 cash bond.
