LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was arrested in connection to a shooting near Fairdale on Friday.

Aaron Ellis, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police, said officers responded to a reported shooting in the 9000 block of W. Manslick Road at 11 a.m.

According to police, a man had been shot in the leg and was taken to UofL Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said 28-year-old Alberto Gonzalez was arrested and charged with assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and tampering with physical evidence.

Gonzalez and the victim both gave detectives statements saying they were in an argument and that's when Gonzalez shot the victim, court documents state.

In a Miranda statement, Gonzalez told police he shot the victim in self-defense and that he discarded a red-and-gold-colored handgun and ran from the scene.
