St. Matthews drug bust suspects 8-5-24

Four of eight suspects currently in custody after a drug bust in St. Matthews.

Four of those eight suspects are still unaccounted for and have warrants out for their arrest. But the other four faced a judge at the Jefferson County Judicial Center Monday morning to be arraigned on the charges against them.

Police said on Thursday, July 25, officers executed search warrants at five different locations throughout the Louisville area.

Officers found more than 90 pounds of meth, fentanyl, carfentanil — which is a tranquilizer for large animals — and marijuana.

Investigators also seized automatic rifles and hand guns, $19,000 in cash and items like drug cutting agents, pill pressers and scales.

In all, eight people are facing charges in connection to the drug bust.

"It's a very good arrest for this community. It's a very good amount of drugs taken off the street for this community," St. Matthews Police Chief Barry Wilkerson said. "Hopefully, lives will be saved."

A judge set the bond at $100,000 for the majority of the suspects in custody in the case.
