LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 44-year-old man was arrested after a high-speed chase Wednesday morning in Nelson County, according to police.
According to Nelson County Sheriff's Office, a deputy tried to stop a 2007 black Pontiac G6 on Stephen Foster Avenue around 1:05 a.m. The car, driven by Christopher Gericke, was driving at high speeds and failed to dim headlights to oncoming motorists.
Police said Gericke, of Mackville, Kentucky, ignored the deputy's emergency equipment and turned onto Clermont Drive. Gericke then turned onto North Drive but wrecked his vehicle.
The Washington County man tried to flee but complied with verbal commands and was arrested.
Gericke was taken to Nelson County Correctional Center. He's charged with wanton endangerment, trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, criminal mischief and fleeing or evading police, among other charges.
