6 years after man's murder in southwest Louisville, his family still pushes for answers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Six years have passed since a southwest Louisville family lost their loved one, a 52-year-old man robbed and murdered while helping a co-worker.

Onyx Willis lost his uncle, Bill Reichle, on Oct. 15, 2017. There have been no arrests, but the pain for Reichle's family remains.

"It's not one of those things you ever think is going to happen to your family until it does," Willis said Monday.

Reichle was trying to help a co-worker fill her tires at a Marathon gas station on Cane Run Road near Rockford Lane. Two men approached them with guns drawn, asking for money.

After Reichle told the men he had no money, he was shot. Security cameras at the gas station weren't working.

"For me, he was always just that goofy uncle," Willis said. "You could joke around with him, wrestle around with him when I was younger."

Reichle had been a pizza delivery driver for Annie's Pizza for 14 years. Diane Brown was his manager.

"It was devastating after we realized that is what happened," Brown said Monday. "It really was. It was like it was fake but it wasn't."

Immediately after Reichle was shot, he attempted to drive the car to the next road before crashing in a front yard on Popular View Drive, where he died.

Six years later, a photo of Reichle now greets guests when they enter Annie’s Pizza. Over the years, employees have raised money and donated tips for a reward as they continue to hold out hope justice will one day be served.

"I really wish that whoever did do it would come forward or somebody who knew somebody that did it would say something," Brown said.

Louisville Metro Police said Reichle's death is a cold case, still an open and active investigation.

"It's been too long," Willis said.
