LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man tried to rob a liquor store in Valley Station, but he was stopped by a bystander and then arrested.

According to court documents, Jason West, 38, pulled bottles of alcohol off a shelf at a liquor store on East Pages Lane. He hid the bottles in his pants and a plastic bag, but was seen doing so on closed circuit security cameras.

An employee at the liquor store tried to take back the bottles from West. A bystander noticed and helped the employee get the bottles back from him.

West was pushed outside by the bystander and the employee tried to lock to door, but West shoved his way back into the store. The bystander took West to the ground, kicked and punched him repeatedly until he fled the store.

Police arrested West a short time later.
