LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The 19-year-old woman charged with manslaughter after a 1-year-old in her care overdosed on fentanyl pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday.
Saniya Frazier was arrested Tuesday in connection with the death of the child, who overdosed on fentanyl Aug. 19.
The child was taken to at Norton Women's and Children's Hospital in St. Matthews but died despite life-saving efforts.
Frazier told first responders that the child had access to her purse that contained five pills, and that she only found one pill left after finding the child unresponsive, court documents said.
Police said the pills were laced with fentanyl.
During Wednesday's court appearance, the judge ordered Frazier to have no contact with children and appointed a public defender. Her bond was set at $250,000 cash.
Frazier's next court date was set for Dec. 27, according to online records.
