LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville man was arrested after leading police on a multi-county chase that ended in Bullitt County, Kentucky.
Around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Kentucky State Police Post 4 got a call from the Nelson County Sheriff's Office stating they were in pursuit of a stolen Hyundai Elantra westbound on the Bluegrass Parkway, Trooper Scotty Sharp said in a statement.Â
As the pursuit entered Interstate 65 North near Elizabethtown, KSP took over, Sharp said.
The car exited I-65 and headed north on Joe Prather Parkway toward Radcliff. Police said the car stopped on Patriot Lane, and the suspect fled.
As police were setting up a perimeter, Sharp said troopers saw the suspect driving a semi-tractor trailer, and police began to pursue the semi.Â
The semi entered I-65 North before troopers could deploy stop sticks, then exited the interstate, pulling into the parking lot of a business before turning onto East Blue Lick Road in Bullitt County.
Viewer video shows the semi and police following in the parking lot of a business in Brooks, Kentucky, off I-65 South at Brooks Hill Road.
After a short time on East Blue Lick Road, the semi left the roadway and overturned in a wooded area. KSP said the suspect, a man, was taken into custody without further incident.Â
KSP said the suspect was taken to UofL Hospital "after supposedly ingesting an unknown amount of a substance believed to be heroin."
Police are also not releasing his name until he is out of the hospital. KSP said he will be charged with fleeing and evading police, receiving stolen property, theft of over $10,000 and other felony charges.
