LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville man is facing multiple charges after police said he was driving drunk, putting officers in danger during a chaotic traffic stop.

Wiliams Figueroa Figueroa, 26, was clocked by police going 70 mph in a 45 mph zone at Preston Highway and Fern Valley Road early Wednesday, according to court documents.

During the traffic stop, police saw "a plethora of open alcoholic beverage containers" in the car.

When police tried to place Figueroa in handcuffs, he ran across Preston Highway, crossing three lanes of traffic. When police caught up to him, he continued to resist, and officers had to do "a controlled takedown" of him.

During this time, officers were nearly hit by a car while attempting to apprehend Figueroa, according to court documents.

Figueroa's blood alcohol content was 0.222, almost three times the legal limit. He was charged with speeding, reckless driving, resisting arrest, DUI and wanton endangerment. He is scheduled to be in court Monday for his arraignment.
