LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is facing several charges after he allegedly assaulted a police officer who responded to a domestic incident in the Phoenix Hill neighborhood.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest citation. That's when officers responded to Dosker Manor in the 400 block of Muhammad Ali Blvd. after a woman called police to report she had been assaulted.
When officers arrived, they arrested 40-year-old Dante Diggs on domestic violence charges and put him in a police car, but he allegedly began kicking the back passenger side window, according to the arrest report.
Two officers used a "hobble restraint" to Diggs' legs to keep him from kicking the window, but one officer was kicked in the stomach before it was in place. Another officer was almost bitten in the arm.
Diggs continued to try to kick and bite officers trying to restrain him, according to the arrest report.
He is facing several charges, including one count of assaulting a police officer, and one count of attempting to assault a police officer. Diggs is also charged with three counts of terroristic threatening, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Although the arrest happened at the housing complex, officials with the Louisville Metro Housing Authority emphasized in a written statement that, "according to our records, there is no resident by the name of Dante Diggs currently living at Dosker Manor."
Diggs has a court appearance scheduled for June 25, according to online records.
