LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man was sentenced Monday to 22 years in prison more than two years after he was charged with murder in the Taylor Berry neighborhood.
The Jefferson County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said Hunter Thrasher pleaded guilty Monday to five charges, including murder and abuse of a corpse. A judge then sentenced him on the following charges, to be served concurrently:
- Murder (complicity): 22 years
- Obscuring the Identity of a Machine Over $10,000 (complicity): 10 years
- Tampering with Physical Evidence (Complicity): 5 years
- Abuse of Corpse (Complicity): 5 Years
- Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree (Complicity): 5 Years
"Our commitment to root out gun violence continues, as does our dedication to justice for victims of senseless shootings and their families," Commonwealth’s Attorney Gerina D. Whethers said in a news release Monday. "We will use all the legal tools available to us to make sure our community is protected."
Thrasher's crimes stem from a February 2022 incident in which the Jefferson County Coroner's Office said Timothy Wayne Frazer, of Louisville, was shot and killed on Lincoln Avenue. As part of Monday's plea agreement, the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said Thrasher admitted to shooting Frazer, wrapping his body in trash bags, sealing it with duct tape and leaving it in a garage near his home.
