LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — An investigator for Louisville Metro's Office of Inspector General appeared in court Monday after allegedly shooting her boyfriend near the Heritage Creek neighborhood.
Tracy Carter was charged with assault domestic violence on Saturday night. She pleaded not guilty, and a judge set her bond at $100,000 cash. If her bond is posted, she would be placed on home incarceration.
She also cannot use or be in possession of a firearm or any other weapon.
Louisville Metro Police said Saturday a man was shot in the arm in the 8700 block of Warbler Branch Way and taken to UofL Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Carter was arrested in connection with the shooting.
The victim told police he had gotten into a verbal argument with Carter and as he was getting into his vehicle, she began hitting the front windshield but he was struggling to leave due to the snow.
Carter then reportedly began shooting at his vehicle from the garage and the victim got out to ask why she was shooting at him, court documents state.
Carter admitted to officers that she shot the victim in the arm, according to court documents.
In her position with the city, Carter is tasked with investigating police misconduct. She's also certified as a use-of-force instructor.
Louisville's Inspector General Ed Harness said Carter is innocent until proven guilty and is suspended without pay per city policy, pending investigation.
She has a bond hearing scheduled for Dec. 17 and a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 23.
