LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police officers had a busy weekend dealing with more chaos from street takeovers.
Investigators had "actionable intelligence" that street takeovers were imminent Sunday night, so they formed a plan to combat the offenses. Takeovers started in the 8600 block of Preston Highway near Blue Lick Road Sunday night, according to a post on the department's Facebook page. Drivers were seen spinning out and firing guns into the air.
Police said thousands of people were also seen in the Goodwill parking lot at 6200 Preston Highway doing burnouts, sliding, "spinning out and firing celebratory gunfire from their vehicles into the air."
LMPD officials said it took about an hour to shut it all down. Officers also seized several cars near Slugger Field and made multiple arrests.
In all, LMPD seized 14 vehicles and two handguns.
At least four people were arrested, and police issued four citations for reckless driving.
