LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Dolly Parton is donating millions of dollars to support Hurricane Helene relief efforts.

Parton and her east Tennessee businesses — Dollywood, The Dollywood Foundation, Dolly Parton's Stampede and Pirates Voyage — partnered with Walmart for the donation.

She made the announcement Friday at a Walmart in Newport, Tennessee, where meals, showers and laundry facilities are being offered to impacted residents.

"I really think that this is a time for me to step up again, for all of us to step up and do what we can. And of course, today I wanted to announce that from myself personally, just from my own bank account, I'm donating a million dollars today. But there's a lot to be done and we're trying to find other ways to even raise more funds," she said. "And I just want you to know that I am totally with you because I am part of you. I love you."

The Newport area isn't far from Parton's hometown and experienced severe flooding from last week's storm.

Parton's businesses and the Dollywood Foundation are donating an additional $1 million.

Dollywood theme park will also serve as a donation drop-off location for those who want to provide items for cleanup.

The money will go to the Mountain Ways Foundation to provide immediate assistance to Helene flood victims.

Walmart's CEO also announced that the company, along with Sam's Club and the Walmart Foundation, would donate a total of $10 million to hurricane relief efforts across the affected states.
