LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Students at a Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) middle school now have a new resource to help keep them looking and feeling their best.
Olmsted Academy North celebrated the grand opening of its brand new barbershop Thursday. The barbershop is located inside the middle school in the Beechmont neighborhood.
A barber will visit the school every Thursday, offering free cuts and a listening ear for students.
"The haircut is the vehicle, the actual helping them with processing their emotions is the passion," said J. Alexander, the Thoughts Out Loud Barber.
The effort is in partnership with "Thoughts Out Loud," a local program focused on mental health and violence prevention.
