LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Greater Clark County Schools and the union representing its teachers have agreed to a new two-year Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The agreement between GCCS and the Greater Clark Education Association—which raises entry level teacher pay by $2,000 to $52,000—lasts through June 30, 2027.

The district said members of the GCEA voted Sept. 26 to ratify the agreement, and bargaining teams for both groups reached an agreement on the contract's language Tuesday after making "minimal adjustments."

"The ratification of this contract reflects our members' commitment to students, teaching, and the future of education in Greater Clark," Samantha Pierce, GCEA president, said in a news release. "We are proud of the progress we made together."

It also includes a $1,500 salary increase for second-year teachers, and caps teacher salaries at $90,000.

The district said the new contract reflects its commitment to supporting educators and ensuring fiscal responsibility.

"This agreement represents a strong step forward in supporting our educators and ensuring competitive compensation for the critical work they do every day," GCCS Superintendent Mark Laughner said in a statement.

Additionally, the contract includes $500 yearly contributions to eligible teachers' Health Savings Account, and an additional $200 base increase for teachers with a Literary Endorsement.
