LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- More than $27 million will fund safety initiatives at Indiana schools
The Indiana Secured Safety Board approved the distribution of $27,031,881 to be split among 494 schools and districts across the state.
Most of the funds will go toward school resource officer positions. Other items in the grant include equipment and technology, active event warning systems and a program for student and parent support.
"School safety is a top priority for my administration. Every student deserves a good education, and that starts with feeling safe and secure," said Gov. Mike Braun in a news release. "That’s why Indiana continues to make unprecedented investments through the Secured School Safety Grant Program."
The Secured School Safety Grant Program is administered by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
